The first entry

So this is the first entry of what will be my regular blog from Guatemala. I am preparing to go out in January 2008, to work with the Latin Link Central America team. I will be coordinating short term programmes in the region. I think that means that I will be liaising with church pastors and Christian organisations to find ways in which short term mission teams and individuals can help them in their long term vision for their church and community.

I'm really excited about going to Guatemala. I've never been to Central America before and I'm really keen to meet the people and get to know them. From what I've seen in the guidebooks - there's also plenty to see and do in terms of Mayan ruins, mountains, volcanoes, lakes, beaches and forest! But I'm getting ahead of myself slightly - there's lots to do before I get there - all sorts of paperwork and logistics, brushing up on my spanish, and working hard to build a team of people who can support me financially and prayerfully. I'm SOOOOOO grateful to all the people who have already volunteered to stand with me in this new adventure!
