Buenos Aires (Latin Link Leaders conference)

I've just come back from Argentina - where I've been at Latin Link's team leadership conference -- which was great to get to know the leaders of the other teams and compare notes about how they organise themselves.
As we were in Argentina, we also ate lots of beef!! This restaurant was called 'Follow the Cow'!

We had an afternoon trip to the centre of Buenos Aires and visited a few sites....

Plaza de Mayo -- where the Mothers of the Disappeared still protest every week.

La Boca -- famous for the brightly coloured buildings, tango and the home stadium of Maradona!!

And the cemetery - where all the rich and famous families of Buenos Aires keep huge and elaborate Mauseleums for their family tombs. It quite an errie place - almost like a city in it's own right - but without the living people! (except the tourists of course searching for the famous people amongst the graves!)

- which includes Evita.....

birthday parties

Whilst we were at the coast for the weekend, it was Blanca's birthday (she's the team's Honduran Mum) - so we had a party and managed to surprise Faye, Kossy, Matt and Claire in celebrating their birthdays too (all in the next few weeks)

More stepper wisdom

"I'm a lady!"

Of course this is just a selection - as Joel and Guy generally spend about 90% of their time posing!

some of these photos just speak for themselves!

Omoa

Whilst we were at the coast - they took us to Omoa for the day - the beach wasn't that impressive - and filled with people - but the sea was so clear you could watch the fish around the rocks.
And an incredible sunset!

steppers join the army!

This weekend, I went with the step for a weekend on the north coast of Honduras. The father of the family where they are living is a Colonel in the army - so he welcomed us to his base near San Pedro Sula --- an signed everyone up!.

We were thoroughly looked after - and were even given a tour of the Naval Base in Puerto Cortes.

Apparently this was the only US ship not damaged in the Pearl Harbour Attack. About 30 years ago, it was donated to Honduras by the US Navy - and has ended up like this.
